The second-hand marketplace Users Share Anger Regarding Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
